Artist Bio
William began his creative journey on his family’s small farm nestled in the Appalachian mountains. At the age of 16, William left the hills of Kentucky behind to enroll in a pre-professional ballet program in Florida, fueling his dreams of a career in the arts.
A hip injury forced William to pivot his career, prompting him to explore the culinary arts and painting. William climbed the culinary ladder, eventually leading culinary programs for innovative kitchens throughout Northeast Florida and Charlotte.
With his focus now turned to the canvas, his artwork is deeply rooted in the philosophies and disciplines he cultivated while dancing and cooking.
His work is primarily informed by two key factors: his meditation on the lives and art of prehistoric humans, and his observation and collaboration with his two young children. He has chosen the mediums of locally foraged clay and charcoal to apply to stretched and burned canvas, in addition to using conventional materials - often letting his toddlers make the early marks on a new work.
